About me
Rosina, or Rosie as she is often known, has been a teacher for over twenty-five years and also an actor with significant performance experience. An avid traveller with a love for writing and music, Rosie has a warm and authentic connection with everyone she meets, and loves to get to know people’s individual stories. Professional and personable, Rosie is a great listener with a warm and welcoming nature and as a celebrant is keen to assist you to construct and facilitate the ceremony you desire that is both meaningful and memorable.
When Lionel Murphy and Gough Whitlam established the Civil Marriage Celebrant program in 1973 it was a landmark change for Australian society. Couples in committed relationships finally had an alternative to traditional church weddings. This allowed couples without any religious affiliations to create ceremonies of dignity, meaning and substance. As a person with secular views but one who still acknowledges the value of ceremony and ritual in marking significant life events, Rosie was drawn to the role of the Civil Celebrant in regard to the guidance and support she could offer individuals for a range of celebrations connected to these moments - not only in marriages, but secular funerals of substance, naming days and other observances which celebrate a range of life experiences and feels privileged to undertake these duties. Additionally, the amendments made to redefine marriage in Australia as ‘the union of 2 people to the exclusion of all others, voluntarily entered into for life’ is one she is proud the nation has taken. The right to marry under Australian law is no longer determined by sex or gender.
Born in Warrnambool, on the South West coast of Victoria, Rosie recently returned to her hometown and is looking forward to carving out some regular beach walks and building a garden!
