Celebrations of Life
Naming Ceremony
A Naming ceremony is a significant moment of official ‘welcome’ into family and community. This is a profound moment in your child’s life where people from all areas of the baby’s life gather to wish them well and embrace them into their lives. It is the opportunity to publicly acknowledge the significant role we all have in raising children and for you to nominate ‘guide’ parents who will play that part in your child’s life. A Naming ceremony, by a Professional Civil Celebrant, is a wonderful way to officially welcome a new life into your family. I would love to assist you in creating and running this special event!
Significant birthdays
It’s always great to have a Master of Ceremonies on hand to ensure the running of events and coordination of speeches, toasts and additional rituals or performances. That way, you can also relax and enjoy the party. I am really happy to work with you in the planning and delivery of a fun celebration of life and gratitude!
Funerals / Spreading the Ashes
‘Life is no ‘brief candle’ to me. It is a sort of splendid torch which I have got hold of for a moment.’ George Bernard Shaw.
After a death, you may have specific instructions about the internment of the body or ashes. If not, family and friends may wish to complete a ceremony to farewell their loved one. The purpose of the event is to celebrate the life of the individual who has left them, and inter the remains with dignity, respect and ceremony.
I am really happy to chat over a cuppa and assist you to honour the life of your loved one in conjunction with any funeral directors or related organisations of your choice.
I will listen to you, offering support and guidance while constructing an authentic service that is both sensitive and empathetic to your loss, and representative of the life of your loved one. This personalised service involves the writing and delivery of a eulogy (if requested), as well as formulating the structure and flow of the event - including any rituals, readings, speeches, music and/or audio visual presentations you have chosen to include.
Alternatively, you may choose a simple but dignified remembrance ceremony. If someone is cremated, there are a number of options in regard to their ashes. I would take great care and respect in assisting you to hold this celebration of life.
A Spreading of the Ashes Ceremony may take place on private land, a beach, river, public park, at sea or on a place that was significant to the deceased and families. As long as it is permitted by local regulations, you may have a scattering ceremony in a place that is meaningful to you.
Living ‘Funerals’
Why wait for a party you can’t attend!? Often in life we either forget or we don’t get to tell people just how much they mean to us. Or, we promise ourselves, with such conviction, that we w ill h ave that slide night with the family soon and reminisce about the amazing moments of life. A living ‘funeral’ can be a beautiful and meaningful way to celebrate your own life, or the life of a dear friend.
Let’s chat about how we could make this joyful event happen!
Pet Funerals
There is no doubt that pets are family members and their loss is felt as greatly as any. They remain loyal and unconditionally loving throughout our lives and give us so much joy. Like all major changes it is important for many of us to mark this loss with a loving ceremony, and say a fond farewell to our unique companions.
Mistress of ceremonies
Perhaps you are after someone who can manage the format and running of a particular event. I have experience in the coordination and presentation of events for various celebrations, whether it’s an album launch, the warming of a new home, a family reunion, or a corporate event that requires as M.C to keep the show rolling. Ask how I can assist!
